Sakleshpur Railway track Trek [21st - 22nd May 2011] - Houseful

The Green Route "Trek on the Railway Track", as it is well known, is a stretch of track from Sakleshpur to the Subramanya Road Station, which was closed down in 1996 to convert the gauge from Meter to Broad Gauge.

This track, that traverses some distance of the Western Ghats, had been abandoned, but now the track is being converted to broad-gauge. It forms a part of 56.80-km stretch from Sakleshpur to Kukke Subrahmanya, dotted by 58 tunnels, 109 bridges and about 25 waterfalls. So, for all you trekking freaks, this is the place to be in. Since 2005 goods trains are carrying freight to/from the Mangalore Port. Its recommended to trek after monsoon season i.e. during october.

BMC is trekking between Donigal to Edkumeri Railway station which is around 16-20km Distance and next day we will cover 3 to 5km from Edkumeri Railway station to Gondiya pass (Sakleshpur Highway)

09:15PM    Pick up from Pizza Hut, Wind Tunnel Road  

09:30PM    Pick up at New Shanti Sagar, Domlur
10:00PM    Pick up at Lifestyle, Magrath Road, Near Garuda Mall.
10:30PM    Start from Bangalore.

Saturday: 21st May 2011
Reach Sakleshpur, Have breakfast & Drive till Donigal Railway station
Start Trekking on Railway track to Yedakumeri
Nightcamp at Railway station

Sunday: 22nd May 2011
Early morning Exit from Yedakumeri to Highway thru Bisleforest.
Reach our vehicle & start for Bangalore.

Above charges includes: Non-AC Transport, Basic Veg Meals (2 Break fast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner), Tented accommodation, Sleeping bags, Trek guide charges, Permission, coordinators etc.
Not Included: Detour, Medical emergency. Sunday Lunch
